Generative AI Pilot Vs Production: 7 Statistics That Will Blow Your Mind

Here are seven statistics about generative AI adoption that will blow your mind.

45% of Businesses Are Currently Running Generative AI Pilots

When Gartner did the survey in March and April, only 15% of businesses have started piloting generative AI. Fast forward to today and we now see 45% of businesses piloting generative AI. Within a matter of six months, we saw a 300% increase in generative AI piloting. That is how quickly generative AI is growing. The adoption rates are insane and this trend will continue in the years to come.

10% of Businesses Have Already Put Generative AI Into Production

Only 4% of businesses had put generative AI into production back in March and April. In a few months, this number has risen to 10%. Even though businesses are thinking twice about putting generative AI into production right now, it will change as the issues are ironed out.

Expect more businesses to put generative AI into production. Even though some businesses still have their reservations about generative AI and understandably so it won't take long for them to go away. The pace at which generative AI technology is maturing is mind-boggling.

55% of Businesses Have Increased Investment in Generative AI

Over half (55%) have already increased their generative AI investments. They have seen the true potential of generative AI and want to take full advantage of the technology to accelerate their business growth and turbocharge their productivity just like they would with dedicated servers in Chicago

As generative AI continues to attract more investments, it will become a lucrative technology and we will see its applications and use cases grow tremendously in upcoming months. Attracting so many investments in such a short span of time is remarkable, a feat that very few technologies have managed to achieve in the past.

45% of Businesses Are Scaling Generative AI Investments Across Multiple Business Functions

Not only are businesses putting generative AI in pilot and production but they are also increasing their investments across multiple business functions. Whether it is sales, marketing, customer service, IT, finance or human resources, we are seeing generative AI adoption everywhere. New use cases are emerging which is making it a technology you can not afford to ignore in years to come. As more and more businesses adopt it, you won't have any choice but to adopt it too. That is why it is better to get the first mover advantage instead of being the latecomer to the generative AI party.

78% of Businesses Think That the Benefits of Generative AI outweigh the Risks

A previous Gartner poll showed that 68% of businesses think that generative AI benefits outweigh its risks. This has changed for the better as 78% of businesses think that the advantages generative AI brings to the table outweigh its downsides, according to the recent Gartner poll. This clearly shows the positive sentiment developing regarding generative AI technology. Fewer businesses are sceptical or confused about whether they should adopt generative AI or not and the number of such businesses will only shrink in months to come.

22% Are Deploying Generative AI Technology Across Multiple Functions

Among those 45% who indicated they are increasing AI investments across various business functions, almost half of them (22%) are implementing generative AI technology across multiple functions. For example, if a business is utilizing generative software development, they are using it for tasks like code creation, code testing, and even code explanation. This reflects the current technology trends in AI adoption.

Even if you hire a new developer and ask them to pick up where the previous developer has left off, they can easily do that because the code is easy to understand and is explained by generative AI. Additionally, you can create snippets and functions which you can reuse multiple times.

20%-40% Respondents Consider AI As Extremely Important

20%-40% of survey participants consider artificial intelligence as extremely important for a wide variety of tasks. From data to security analysis, writing code to preparing documents, monitoring and analyzing logs to detecting bugs in code, generative AI is being used everywhere by enterprises. A majority of respondents are incorporating AI in some capacity into their day-to-day tasks. It reflects that generative AI will become even more important as years go by and will make a bigger impression.

Whether you love generative AI or hate it, one thing is certain: it is here to stay and is not going anywhere anytime soon. Which of these generative AI adoption statistics fascinated you the most? Share it with us in the comments section below.
