Sergey Tokarev, an IT investor and entrepreneur, recently announced the launching of a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering women in the tech industry in Ukraine. WE.Brave online bootcamp will start in March 2024, in collaboration with SET University and the USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine as a transformative two-week program for women-led startups.
In his Facebook post, Tokarev shed light on the persisting
challenges faced by female leaders in Ukraine, citing the need to overcome the
'glass ceiling' hindering their career advancement and entrepreneurial
endeavors. The WE.Brave bootcamp, scheduled from March 11th to March 22nd,
2024, seeks to address these challenges by providing intensive training,
mentorship sessions, and an international network to support the development of
successful IT products.
Applications for WE.Brave are open until February 25th,
2024, with specific requirements for participation, including being at the
development stage, high proficiency in English, and a commitment to
post-bootcamp startup development. The program aims to deepen participants'
knowledge in various crucial areas, from MVP development to team management,
providing a holistic learning experience.
The initiative, according to Sergey Tokarev, aligns with SET
University's commitment to providing accessible IT education for all
Ukrainians, particularly during times of war. The program not only supports
Ukrainian startups but also contributes to the growth of the Ukrainian economy
by enabling women to create new jobs and make significant tax contributions.
Olesia Zaluska, Head of the USAID Competitive Economy
Program in Ukraine, commended the initiative, emphasizing the program's role in
unlocking the powerful potential of Ukrainian women in leadership positions and
strengthening the country's economy. The mentors for WE.Brave include top
Ukrainian and international experts, offering participants valuable insights
and guidance.
WE.Brave stands as a testament to the initiators’ vision for
a more inclusive and diverse tech industry, providing women with the tools and
knowledge to excel in entrepreneurship. This initiative not only empowers
individual entrepreneurs but also contributes to the overall resilience and
growth of the Ukrainian technology sector.
SET University, co-founded by IT entrepreneur Sergey Tokarev
and the Kyiv School of Economics, is a leading Ukrainian educational institution
shaping future technology industry leaders. Combining modern educational
methods with a focus on technology and entrepreneurship, the university has
adapted its mission during times of conflict, redirecting efforts towards
providing accessible IT education to all Ukrainians, supporting startups, and
offering humanitarian aid.
In tandem, the USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine
plays a pivotal role in supporting Ukrainian businesses. Striving to enhance
competitiveness both locally and internationally, the program fosters a
simplified and transparent business climate. By providing opportunities for
Ukrainian companies to leverage the benefits of international trade, this
collaborative effort contributes significantly to the development of a
resilient and globally competitive business landscape in Ukraine.
