Sun-soaked shores, translucent seas, and salt-filled air will always evoke fleeting memories of careless summers spent on the beach. Regardless of the amount of washed-up seaweed, every beach seemed to be paradise back in those days. However, with a few difficult and inarguably odd years behind us, everyone seems to be on the hunt for an idyllic beach hideaway this summer “ a place to rethink, recharge, and above all else relax. For those just starting their search, this is by no means an easy feat. With a number of destinations becoming available again, finding the perfect beach is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Luckily, we've combed through everything and found five beaches to spark some inspiration!

Most Relaxing Beaches in the World

Seven Mile Beach, The Cayman Islands

Even though its name may have you believing otherwise, Seven Mile Beach is a 5.5-mile long paradise situated on the west Cayman shores. For decades, its crystal clear waters and coral shores have attracted tourists from all around the globe. However, although they may come for the picturesque view, people tend to stay because of everything else that the Cayman Islands have to offer. For those set on soaking up the Caribbean sun, the island offers an endless selection of Jamaican cuisine to choose from. On the other hand, more adventurous souls will have the chance to hone their surfing skills and get to know the local wildlife through an afternoon snorkeling adventure. Whichever adventure you choose, remember that a sip of Jamaican rum should never be far behind.

Harbor Island, The Bahamas

Over the last few decades, the Bahamas have become a staple of the ideal beach getaway. Their never-ending shorelines and breathtaking sunsets leave truly little to the imagination. Nevertheless, as with any newly uncovered secret, the roaring crowds are never that far behind. However, even with bundles of tourists pouring in every day, the Bahamas are still hiding a few well-kept secrets. Possibly the most beautiful one of them all would have to be Harbor Island, a paradise situated just off the northeast coast of Eleuthera Island. Far enough from the roaring crowds, the island is considered ideal for families and couples looking for a quiet yet memorable vacation. Within its shores, Harbor Island holds numerous undiscovered hideaways ideal for a few meditative moments in the Caribbean sun.

Hyams Beach, Australia

Be it a novel career venture or a perspective-shifting experience, every one of us desires a radical adventure from time to time. Thus, for those yearning to step out of their everyday lives, Hyams Beach may be just the solution. Situated in Jarvis Bay, Australia, this beach heaven is known to have the whitest sand in the world. It is encircled by Booderee National Park, making it the ideal place to experience all the natural beauties that Australia has to offer. Even though cities such as Sydney promote tours around the entire coastal shore, a true Hyams Beach experience is complete only with Jarvis Bay accommodation. Waking up to the sound of waves breaking onto the shore is something no tour could ever be able to capture.

Most Relaxing Beaches in the World

Elafonisi Island, Greece

Some individuals would argue that there is nothing better than soaking in the fleeting moments of summer on sun-soaked shores. Nevertheless, while some people crave this meditative heaven, others desire cultural adventure. Fortunately for all, our little world still holds a few hidden gems capable of meeting both desires. Situated just two hundred meters off the coast of Crete, Elafonisi Island offers the perfect balance of cultural adventure and tranquility. It is home to mile-long pink shores and clear blue waters that will make just about anyone long for an endless number of summers. Although the island itself doesn't offer many cultural opportunities, visitors are only a few steps away from Crete “ one of the cornerstones of modern civilizations. Thus, after days of idyllic beach landscapes, Elafonisi nights are filled with historic adventure and traditional Greek cuisine “ an ideal summer truly like no other.

Reduit Beach, St. Lucia

Thus far, we've seen beaches ideal for bookworms, families, and those yearning to reconnect with nature “ however, are there still some left for the adventurous spirits?  Here, Reduit Beach fits like a glove. Located just a bit south of Pigeon Island National Park at Rodney Bay, Reduit Beach is ideal for those looking to avoid the lounge and get their hearts beating out of their chests. From scuba diving to sailing and snorkeling, the island really does have something for everyone. Of course, when you need to catch your breath between adventures, Reduit Beach offers an exquisite selection of cuisine, including the summer favorite selection of the best ice creams around!

Although this may come across as slim pickings, these specific beaches don't have to be your final summer destination. Rather, they can serve as inspiration to help you figure out what it is that you're looking for “ is the adventure or tranquility? Once you've got the plan down, picking the right beach will be as easy as pie!
