Brow lamination is a non-invasive beauty treatment that
transforms thin or uneven brows into fuller-looking brows. Discover how this
brow trend works and the special aftercare steps.
What Is Brow Lamination?
Brow lamination, also referred to as a brow lift or brow
sculpt, is a non-invasive eyebrow treatment that results in fuller, smoother
brows. Brow lamination is a great treatment for people who have thin or uneven
brows. The brow lamination procedure begins with softening the hair follicles
with a chemical solution, followed by shaping and positioning the brow hairs.
Microblading, a semipermanent tattooing technique, and tinting, which applies
pigment to the brows, are both popular alternatives to brow lamination. In
contrast to these techniques, brow lamination employs natural brow hairs.
How Does Brow Lamination Work?
Eyebrow lamination is similar to getting your brows permed.
A brow specialist lifts the brow hairs before using a chemical solution to
break the hairs' bond. The brow artist then uses a neutralizer and setting
lotion to shape and direct the hairs into the desired shape and direction. A
brow specialist can position the hairs with a spoolie or eyebrow brush to fill
in sparse sections and make the brows appear fuller, fluffier, and more even.
To shape the brows further, the technician may tweeze or thread stray hairs.
The treatment concludes with the application of a nourishing keratin
conditioner to assist the new brows in maintaining hydration.
How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?
A brow lamination treatment can last up to eight weeks,
depending on the rate of brow hair growth. To avoid dryness and damage to your
brow hair, you should wait at least a week between treatments, just like with a
perm.
Brow Lamination Aftercare
There are important steps to take after getting a brow
lamination. You must:
1. Stay away from water. Moisture can cause the lamination
to degrade and come apart. After brow lamination, you should avoid getting your
brows wet for twenty-four hours, just like you would after a perm. Showering
and working out should be avoided during this time.
2. Avoid the use of retinoids. Exfoliants, AHA and BHA, and
retinol skincare products can cause brow hairs to dry out. After a brow
lamination treatment, do not apply these products to your brows for twenty-four
hours. (If you have dry skin, you should avoid using these products for a week
before the treatment.)
3. Treat your brows with oil. Apply face oil or castor
oil to the brows after twenty-four hours to hydrate them.
To avoid dryness and damage to your brows, you should wait
at least six weeks before having another brow lamination treatment.
How Safe Is Brow Lamination?
If you want brow lamination, go to a professional salon and
see a brow expert. If you have sensitive skin, the brow lamination chemicals
may cause redness and inflammation. A technician will usually perform a patch
test on your skin to ensure that you are not allergic to the chemicals. Though
brow lamination is completely safe, you run the risk of damaging your brows if
you have it done too frequently or attempt to do it yourself at home.
