The argument Will Smith had with Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars and the current state of affairs between the two people have finally been addressed.

When Chris Rock made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith's looks, the "King Richard" actor punched him onstage, causing a commotion at the event.

He posted a video titled "It's been a minute..." on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to address the issue. When responding to inquiries, he was asked why he didn't apologize to Chris Rock in his victory speech for Best Actor at the Oscars. "I was fogged out by that moment," he said in response. All of it is blurry.

I've reached out to Chris, and the message that came back is that he's not ready to talk, and when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable, and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk (Will Smith, 2022).

Rosalie "Rose" Rock, the mother of Chris Rock, received an apology from Will Smith in response to an interview she gave during the Oscar controversy, in which she said that she felt slapped as well when Chris Rock was struck on stage.

I want to apologize to Chris's mother. I saw an interview that Chris's mother did. You know, that was one of the things about that moment I just didn't realize. I wasn't thinking about how many people got hurt in that moment. So I want to apologize to Chris's mother. I want to apologize to Chris's family, specifically to Tony Rock. We had a great relationship. You know, Tony Rock was my man. And this is probably irreparable (Will Smith, 2022).

He continued by saying that he had spent the previous three months "replaying and learning the intricacies and the complexity of what transpired at that moment." While he says he won't go into detail at this time, he claims that he doesn't believe it was "the correct way to act."
