The Ukrainian venture capital fund Roosh Ventures has been
included in the ranking compiled by the European media outlet Sifted, which is
published with the support of the Financial Times. The fund took 43rd place
among the top fifty and became the first and only Ukrainian player to make it
onto this list. Three of its portfolio companies were also included in the
selection of the region’s 100 fastest-growing start-ups. This was announced
by Serhiy Tokarev, an IT businessman and co-founder of Roosh Ventures.
A Ukrainian Investment Fund Featured in Sifted: What Does This Mean?
Roosh Ventures provides venture capital funding to tech
start-ups in Europe and beyond. This fund has made it into the list of top
fifty proprietary funds of a media outlet specializing in analytics of the
European start-up and venture capital markets.
The Sifted ranking is compiled based on a number of
criteria:
- the quality of the portfolio;
- the volume of deals closed;
- the player’s impact on the development of the local
ecosystem.
The fact that a Ukrainian fund is among Western Europe’s
leading investors shows that a fund’s country of registration is no longer a
determining factor for competitiveness and scale in venture capital.
In addition, Sifted highlighted Gladia, Alma and Folk —
portfolio companies that have been named among Europe’s 100 most dynamic
start-ups. They operate in various technology niches:
- Gladia is developing AI infrastructure for speech
transcription and analysis, which is already used in thousands of products.
- Alma is developing a Buy Now Pay Later payment solution.
- Folk offers a CRM programme that puts people, rather than
algorithms, back in charge of managing business relationships with customers.
This portfolio of companies — ranging from AI-based
solutions to business and fintech tools — demonstrates the investment fund’s
overarching priorities.
“The inclusion of Roosh Ventures in the ranking of one of
the leading European media outlets is not accidental, but rather the result of
our approach to project selection. We invest in people who transform markets,
and that is why the fund has ranked among the top investors in France, Belgium,
the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Ukrainian companies are already top-tier and
are not playing catch-up, but competing,” notes IT investor and
entrepreneur Serhiy Tokarev.
Ukrainian technology and investment teams are increasingly
competing with Western companies. The results of the ranking, in which the
venture capital fund Roosh Ventures was featured, only confirm this trend.
