Waqar claims to increase entertainment without media through theatre performances
By the 12 months of 2020, the entertainment and media enterprise in the United States is predicted to be well worth over $720 billion. On a global scale, it is set to hit over $2.2 trillion by using the identical time. There is no way an industry may want to make that lots of cash and have that plenty of and have an impact on us, right? Wrong!
Entertainment is a get away from the actual world “ from work, studies and the day by day stresses of life. That is why we love it. Entertainment brings light to our lives and makes us happy, often inspiring people to believe that they can do and be more.
The enterprise influences society and way of life dramatically. It influences the way we think, live, eat, gown and even the purchases we make. People preserve up with the big name of a show, film, book, album or even YouTube channel and desire to be like them. They even desire to personal things that the celebrity owns, so that they can share commonalities with their superstar.
Waqar Sheikh is a hardworking actor, writer and director who has the experience of about 6 to 7 years. His contribution to the industry are his writings and acting in various plays, serials, short films and web series. He has done many theatre shows all over Pakistan and also achieved awards.
Waqar mainly belongs to Karachi, Pakistan and is currently present in Munich, Germany. He has done BSCS from FAST University Karachi and is working as a software engineer in a company named Zooplus in Munich, Germany. In his words
"I am a software engineer by profession and an artist by passion."
He started his artistic journey by learning music. He knows how to sing and play guitar. By watching theatre shows commercially, he observed it to be an interesting way to present the art or talent. That made him give auditions for acting but faced rejection. He made a group with some of his friends who were also willing to act. He entered a competition in which he wrote the script himself and played the show. He received alot of appreciation.
He says - "I came to know that the art is not easy as it looks, it is hard but when you are performing you create your own universe. You are escaping the reality to be in an imaginary world which you think is real."
Waqar participated in the acting competitions back to back and won. He was promoted as the head of theatre department and head of drama society. He started his own theatre group named "Tamseel" and did many shows from 2014 to 2017. After 2017, he joined DramaCulas, a professional theatre group at Karachi, as an actor and director. He did many shows and web series with DramaCulas till he shifted to Germany in 2021.
His remarkable achievements include his work on different kind of societal elements on which theatre shows are not based normally such as, about insomniac patients who have problems regarding hallucinations and other things etc. He worked in an association under US Consulate and did many plays in which he wrote and performed about women empowerment and various other elements.
He wrote a Silent Theatre Show about the on stage and back stage life of an artist. In which he portrayed the difficulties an artist go through while managing their real life issues and entertaining people at the same time. He also wrote and acted in a play which was about "Naya Pakistan" which showed that if Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah was alive today, what will he be seeing and is it the picture of Pakistan he portrayed to be now?
Waqar explained his interest in doing theatre shows bu saying, " I like working in theatres instead of camera because it has active responses. Whether you did good or bad, the result is in front of you at the moment. You don't have to wait knowing about your success or failure."
Waqar did few theatres to promote urdu language in Germany. In November 2021, he worked on 2 plays in which one of them was "Teen Rishte" written by Salman Hamid and the other one was "Social Pagal" by Shah Fahad in which he played the lead role. The story of this play was about a person who has a family pressure to become an engineer but is willing to become an actor/artist, and that is why he is unable to work on both. The moral of this play was to highlight a common problem of every culture and to promote urdu language. Waqar is the first person to play a theatre show in urdu language in Germany.
Also he was the first to act as the main lead in a very first shortfilm of Urdu language in the history of Germany which was produced in limited budget and with limited resources. It was also presented on screen in Munich and was regulated on various channels.
He has also worked under Desi Media Duetschland, Urdu Radio Duetschland and Pakistan German Culture in the support for Urdu language and literature by writing and acting many plays, short films and web series. He rewrote and performed the classical serials of Manto and Anwar Maqsood.
Waqar has taught acting as a subject in Iqra University, Karachi and also has given many workshops of acting in Pakistan and Germany. He says many shows and web series are lined up for him ahead and he will always work to praise Urdu language all over the world. He concluded
"Always work with honesty and for yourself. Always work with what you like to work with. Don't ever lie to yourself. It doesn't matter how fake you are acting on the stage because the scene demands honesty and that is the formula of making it seem real."
